DUSA T1 OFest 2025 recap

What a fantastic two weeks we’ve had welcoming our newest Deakin students and kicking off the academic year in style! With over 50 events including night parties, sporting sessions, online gatherings and on-campus celebrations, there was something for everyone at T1 OFest 2025!

The weather was perfect across the fortnight for the in-person events we held across all campuses. Our Market Days/Club Showcases at Burwood and Geelong, the Welcome Lunch and Big Picnic at Warrnambool, and Beats & Eats at all campuses were amazing with free food, pumping tunes, activities and plenty of partner giveaways!

The Club Showcases were also a great chance to get to know the many DUSA Clubs we have on offer. If you missed out on meeting the clubs during OFest be sure to visit our clubs page on the website to learn more.

Our night events went off with the sparkle of our Glitter Party and Glow Party, the incredible costumes on our Mystery Bus Tour, and the chill vibes of our Barefoot Bowls and Movie Night. You only need to look at the hundreds of pics on our Facebook Albums to see how much fun everyone had!

For the more active, we held the Amazing Race at Burwood and Warrnambool for students to get to know their new campus and make friends along the way. Our Mocktail Workshops at Burwood and Waurn Ponds were also a great chance to meet new people and make some amazing drinks in the process!

OFest was also a great chance to showcase the fantastic sporting opportunities on offer at DUSA. Our Come & Try Sport sessions at Burwood and Geelong were a big success and a chance for students to try a range of sports including dance, dodgeball, badminton, cricket, hockey, and chess! Students at Burwood campus were also treated to a Basketball Showcase where our Deakin Dragons took on the might of Monash University & RMIT, in an afternoon of great basketball, free food, DJ tunes, and some mascot moments!

As well as in-person events we also ran a range of online sessions including Online Trivia and an Online Scavenger Hunt for students to share interests, have some fun and create connections from any location.

It’s been fantastic to meet so many over you over the past two weeks and we hope you’ve been able to make new connections and memories that will last a lifetime! A huge thanks to our DUSA Crew volunteers, partners, and everyone who helped to make T1 OFest 2025 a huge success.
