The time has come again for campaign fever to hit our campuses for the annual DUSA Student Elections!
We love a good election – it highlights the ability for one to create a positive change at their University, whilst empowering others to do the same. However, like any great election (take note Australian Parliament), these elections are your chance to have a say in the way DUSA is managed for you and your fellow students.
On the ballot are 26 student representative positions for Burwood campus, 17 for Geelong campus, 10 for Warrnambool campus and 18 for the Cloud campus. In addition, there are seven National Union of Students delegates to be chosen, one International Officer and one Queer Officer.
The positions on offer are President, Vice President, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Welfare Officer, Education Officer, Social Engagement Officer, Community Engagement Officer, Queer Officer, International Officer and Campus Coordinators for all campuses, including the Cloud.
All positions will have a role to play in managing and assisting the student community of our University, so it’s important that you employ your right of suffrage and vote!
Voting for campus representatives begins on Monday 17 September and ends on Friday 21 September. Polling booths will be set-up at all campuses for voting and Cloud students will be able to vote online.
Student Council positions will be elected by the Campus Representatives on Wednesday 3 October, and with that, your new Student Council will be in office. Sadly, ours is rectangle and not oval, but maybe one day, right? We dream big at DUSA.
These Student Representatives are created with the intent to advocate for you – the students – and are designed to help and assist you in any matters that are affecting your welfare or experience at Deakin University. They are your voice and we want to ensure that voice remains true and proud. So, take an interest and get involved and make this year’s election, your election.
