Vice President – Education

Hi my name is Noah Smith

Hi everyone!

My name is Noah, and I'm excited to be your Vice President Education in 2025 I would love to tell you a bit about who I am.

People who know me know that I'm a genuine, optimistic and an open person who likes to ask questions and cares about improving the student experience through hard work and perseverance. When not studying or working, I enjoy watching the cricket or football, visiting new places with friends, and going music events and festivals. I believe that whilst at university, staying connected with friends, family and your passions is important to stay motivated during your time at university.

I joined Deakin in 2023, studying a Bachelor of Law and International Relations and have since involved myself on campus, joining clubs and attending countless events. In 2024, I was one of your DUSA Student Councillors where I supported events such as the DUSA O-fest, Geelong mystery bus tour, and Warrnambool winter ball, along with supporting initiatives such as the food pantry and IT staff in the library.

I think the best thing that makes university a truly unique experience is campus life. There is so much more to uni than classes. I know personally, the clubs and events have really enhanced my university experience. They have provided me with great memories, great friends and great vibes and this could not have been possible without DUSA. To give back, I am committed to working with clubs to improve them and in turn, the student experience at Deakin.

Prior to university, I involved myself in student leadership, being elected College Captain where I focussed on student engagement, experience and advocacy. Here, I was part of a team that ran a big freeze slide for MND research along with several other events that were vital to our community.

Over the next year, I want to be your voice for all student matters, particularly education to ensure everyone gets a fair go and can put their best foot forward towards their academic success. I want to ensure that your concerns are heard by being your relentless voice to the university on issues that will make a difference to you during your time at University.

No topic is off limits and I’m always down for a chat. Please come to say hi if you see me on campus or reach out to me directly!
