Hi! My name is April and I am your Assistant General Secretary for 2025. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts at the Waurn Ponds campus.
Serving as the Accessibility and Online Representative for Geelong since July 2023, I have worked to improve the student experience across a wide range of areas and I am excited to expand on that work even further across the year.
As a Geelong Student, representing our regional campuses is very important to me. Whether it is for Waurn Ponds, Waterfront or Warrnambool, I am committed to supporting the initiatives of our representatives and other student leaders, to improve the university experience for regional students.
In my previous role, I had a strong focus on disability and women's rights – having founded the 'Deakin Geelong Disability Neurodivergency Association' and working to restart the 'Deakin Geelong Women's Collective'. I look forward to our continued work in these areas, alongside the new team.
I will also continue to support our current initiatives such as the Chillout Trolley, Food Pantry, OFest and our themed weeks. If I’m beginning to sound a little too serious, don’t worry! I still have my fun as President of Deakin Motorsport – go Oscar Piastri!
