It's your rights week at Burwood this week! We'll be running a number of activities throughout the week to raise awareness for human rights, social rights and environmental rights.
Monday 12 September
There will be stalls from 11am-2pm along Mutant Way with organisations that are representative of human rights.
Tuesday 13 September
There will be stalls from 11am-2pm but this time the focus will be on social rights with our main focus of the day on gay marriage.
We'll also be serving up falafels in exchange for a donation of $2 which will be donated directly to UNICEF to assist with the East African drought. So come down and assist those who are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance! To donate directly, please go to http://www.unicef.org.au/Donate/One-off-Donation/east-africa-drought-emergency-appeal-famine.aspx
Wednesday 14 September
The Deakin Enviro Club is running a day in honour of ‘National Biodiversity Month’ and ‘Clean up the World’ weekend. The event will celebrate local and global biodiversity and promote waste. There will also be a sausage sizzle open to all students in exchange for a dollar donation.
Throughout The Week
The Amnesty International Club at Deakin and DUSA are looking for drink bottles, soft toys, colouring books, dolls, notebooks, items of clothing, calculators, storybooks and backpacks that are in good quality to donate to children living in a post-war society in Sri Lanka. So if you have any items to donate, please make your way to any one of our drop boxes set up between September 12-16 at all faculty offices as well as infront of DUSA.
That's all from us, and we'll hopefully see you next week!
