Deakin University and the Deakin University Student Association (DUSA) recognise the demands placed on elite Student-Athletes either entering and/or continuing Undergraduate or Post Graduate studies and thus support Student-Athletes through the 'Deakin University Student-Athlete Sports Grant' program.
The Deakin University Sports Grant program offers opportunities to assist in balancing the demands placed on the students by their training and competition commitments, with their academic obligations. Through this program recipients have access to first class facilities at Deakin University including; academic counselling and support, fitness and training facilities, personal and professional development seminars, and networking opportunities.
The program has been developed to support elite Student-Athletes from a National through International level of competition, for which are currently studying an Undergraduate or Post Graduate degree through Deakin University.
The number of sports grants available over a calendar year is limited, with financial support ranging from $100.00 to $2,000.00. This financial assistance will be made via a one-off payment to those students that meet the required selection criteria.
Sports Grant benefits may include and not be limited to;
(a) Academic counselling and support
(b) Access to Fitness Centres and Testing Facilities on your respective campus of study
(c) Financial assistance for educational or sporting expenses, relevant to your level of funding allocation
(d) Personal and professional development seminars held in conjunction with the Deakin University Student Association ULead program
(e) Career counselling and personal mentoring
